And two of the best quadcopters according to our opinion reviewed;

The Husban X4 H107 C

Husban X4 H107 C review

Husban X4 H107 C review

  1. Camera:

With a 2 MP camera, the Husban x4 provides for a good introduction to the exciting world of FPV Quadcopters.  1280 by 720 resolution should be enough to give you a taste of the FPV experience while getting you acquainted with Quadcopters’ video control.

  1. Durability

The one piece plastic frame of the Husban x4 is durable enough for the price you’re paying. In addition, Husban also markets their Blade Protection Guard as an accessory to their Quadcopters. It would be a good safety practice to acquire one before you start experimenting in order to keep your blades safe.

  1. Cost:

On the cost spectrum, $54.99 is a pretty fair price for the Husban Quality. It’s hard to acquire something cheaper without compromising either the copter’s quality or the camera specs.

  1. Ease of Control

Despite the flight time of about 9 minutes, Husban provides an excellent training vehicle for FPV Quadcopter beginners. Its small size allows for easy maneuvering while giving the beginner enough room to constantly improve and fine-tune their piloting skills.

Estes Proto-X FPV

Estes Proto-X review

Estes Proto-X review

  1. Camera

The Air Hogs Helix also comes with a 2MP camera with a resolution of 1280 by 720. However, the Estes Proto controller also provides a 95mm x 55mm color screen for all things FPV.

  1. Durability

The micro size as well as the vulnerable frame makes this Estes Proto primarily an indoors Quadcopter. Calm days with easy winds will allow you to take it outside though as long as you keep an eye out for any sudden drifts.

  1. Cost

At $184.95, the Estes are more on the heavier side of micro Quadcopters.

  1. Ease Of Control

The Estes Proto-X FPV strikes a fine balance between a beginner Quadcopter and a more challenging one. The 4 channel control, flying altitude and maneuvers that this model excels at will always leave some room for improvement for the new Quadcopter enthusiast. This is one of the best if not the best models for hobbyists who want move from total beginners to intermediate pilots using the same quadcopter.

Why buy an FPV equipped Quadcopter?

Learning to pilot a simple Quadcopter can be challenging on its own. Why would you learn to pilot an even more complex one you might ask? Well, transitioning from flying a simple drone to one equipped with a First Person View camera is a puzzling process even for seasoned Quadcopter enthusiast.

Here’s a list of what you can learn by shooting the two birds with one stone:

  • Developing situational awareness necessary for safe flying. This is even more pronounced in this case with the more limiting perspective granted by FPV setups.
  • Developing a sense of how added accessories, the FPV setup in this case, can affect your flying experience.
  • Get better acquainted with how different variables (altitude, distance from controller, environment etc…) can ALL factor in while flying an FPV Quadcopter.
  • Save time by learning both. Doing so separately can potentially require re-learning how to pilot your Copter now that it’s equipped with an FPV camera and flies differently.
  • It costs significantly less on all levels. You’re saving time by learning two skills at once, saving the time it requires to learn how equip a Quadcopter with an FPV camera, and saving money since it can cost you more to buy the equipment separately.

What Kind of FPV Quadcopter Should You Get As a Beginner?

As a beginner, it’s preferable and highly recommended to start with something cheap.  If this is your first experience with drones, the cheapest the better. What you want to do as a beginner is to test the physical limits of your new flying toy. Be rough with it. Exhaust its batteries. Fly it as far as possible till you get a feel of the transmitter’s range. Your first FPV quadcopter is bound to take the occasional hit here and there so having a cheap one will allow you to experiment freely without feeling like you’re tossing few hundred dollar bills in the air.

Furthermore, a cheap first FPV quad will get you acquainted with all the different ways a drone can get damaged. This will prove a valuable experience when you decide later to invest in a more advanced model.

Micro models

micro quadcopter

Micro Quadcopter can be one of the best choices for a beginner.  Due to their small size, they make for the perfect first quadcopter to experiment with. In fact, you don’t even need to leave your room to start practicing as long as you watch out for any valuable items in room. They’re also much easier to pilot and can teach you the intricacies of air-drifting and possibly even the mechanics necessary to perform cool tricks.

Furthermore, they’re easier on your wallet. Ranging from $30 to $300 depending on how long you plan on keeping them before upgrading to a more advanced quadcopter, they are one of top choices for a beginner FPV Quadcopter!

Additional factors to keep in mind concerning FPV Quadcopter for beginners!

Evidently, the quality of a beginner FPV quadcopter will be lower than what you can expect out of a more advanced model suited to more experienced users.  Although you can find copters with excellent durability, remember that you’re buying something for beginners. It is expected that the model you buy will suffer the damage that results from the learning process. This however can be offset by picking a Quadcopter that’s equipped with an outer protective layer; something preferably made of Styrofoam so that not will the Quadcopter not suffer considerable damage, but also for the safety of your apartment valuables (TV’s, walls, windows etc..).
